After a couple of busy, full on days, we decided that we liked our anchorage so much that we would have a lazy day and just stay put.  We woke at the usual time, but enjoyed just being able to get going slowly.  The weather was fabulous, the first of the year when just t-shirts and shorts were required.

We set to with the never-ending list of chores, and managed to get some more of the hot weather deck gear in place. We now have the bimini and the spray hood fitted, although the spray hood is there more for its sun shading qualities than its spray protection. During the course of this, one of the bars that support the spray hood slipped and bashed Tricia on the head, which was far from ideal.

During the heat of the day, while we were below out of the sun, we did a bit of research about the tower that is the most prominent feature in the bay. We had seen a coach load of tourists arrive and look at it earlier, so we knew there must be some history to it.  It was apparently built as a watch tower in the 14th century to provide a small garrison and prepare for the arrival of Moorish raiders.  It fell into disuse by the 18th century but has now been partially restored. There are also the remains of a tiny chapel close by, We didn’t go ashore to visit either but spent the rest of the day quietly. It is a gloriously peaceful spot.
