Sunday 7 April 2019
I woke a daybreak, feeling relieved we had opted for the
quieter, but less convenient berth, having intermittently heard the bass of the
night club music thumping, during the night. It stopped at about 6am. It wasn’t
intrusive at the distance we are away. Steve didn’t even hear it, but it’s good
to not be next door to it.
Getting up required jumping straight into some clothes,
as its only been 15c inside the boat the last two mornings. I don’t feel guilty
about putting on the electric heating, as its an opportunity to check its
working.
After a leisurely breakfast, trying to avoid the
depressing news in the newspaper, we set to on the days work. This is mainly
still cleaning the boat inside and out. We started at the front and this
morning it was the turn of the starboard aft cabin. Steve also laid the anchor chain
out on the dock, to check all was well with that, especially as our first stop
from here will be an anchorage. That all went well and the anchor chain locker
is now squeaky clean.
It was a beautiful morning with little wind, so we able
to sit on deck to have morning coffee and lunch, enjoying the pretty views of
the harbour, the beach and the town seafront. Within an hour of our lunch the
wind had whipped up into a gale again.
We checked the new cockpit seat cushions that Pepe has
made for us. They are superb, except for a small mistake in one. He’s basically
made two starboard side cushions. He had said to contact him if there’s any
problem, so I just hope he can fix it before we want to leave.
