After a run, breakfast and showers, we were ready to
leave mid morning. It takes 30 -40 minutes to get everything ready, especially
when we have to put the passerelle away. Sant Antoni has been a superb stop
over place; we have enjoyed it a lot, but we said goodbye and made our way out
of the harbour. We noticed a yacht, beached, on the far side of the harbour, as
we left. A rather sorry sight.
We sailed about half way to our destination, very slowly,
with the challenge of keeping the boat moving in little airs. We only had 15
miles to go so we didn’t need to rush. In the early afternoon, though, the wind
died completely, so we motored the last few miles. The landscape of Ibiza has
changed at this northern end. The pine tress have given way to bushes but it’s
still green. There are many calas for anchoring and we choose to head for one
described as being almost deserted. Indeed it is. We can see five houses spread
across the cliffs. The one right down in the cala, castle shaped, looks very
secluded. We understand it is private land so we won’t go ashore.
We laid the anchor a second time to get it to bite, then
we were able to enjoy relaxing on deck in the sunshine. I would have been
tempted to go for a swim in the pristinely clean, clear, turquoise water but it
is full of jelly fish. We have no idea whether they are the stinging kind or
not, so we’ll leave that for today, but as I write, I’m pondering a swim
tomorrow, as I think we have our Australian stinger suits with us.
The only sound is of a few birds on the cliffs. We wont
be hearing dance music drifting across the bay tonight.
