Friday 13 September
The day was largely taken up with chores; getting ready
for the next few days and restocking the larder. There was a market just over
the way from our pontoon. Perfect! We bought bags full of fruit and vegetables,
cheese and wonderful cured meats. One of the many delights of our travels is
the food shopping; enjoying the new venues and tastes of the various places.
Pecorino is the local cheese and it is superb.
Later we went back to the part of the market selling
clothes, while the stalls were being urged to pack up by a couple of policemen.
I was able to pick up a linen dress at a very good price.
There is high pressure building, meaning the weather is
improving on last week. We have at least a few days of hot weather in store
again, with light breezes, perfect for pottering about The Maddalena’s. The
only down side to that is that the mosquitoes have reappeared and we are having
to apply "Eau de anti mozzi" after dark.
The motor boat next door has a young guy skipper, who
takes people out to the islands each day, usually leaving at lunch time and
returning in the early evening. Today his passengers were a young mother,
with a very excited looking about three year old boy, and a nanny. They must have
had a lovely time, as they all had big smiles when they returned, especially
the nanny.

Teresa's taxi came to take her to the airport, we have had a great time despite her discomfort. We wished her a safe trip home and a speedy recovery.
